Unilin Thin-R XT/CW (T&G) is a PIR partial fill cavity wall insulation board designed for traditional masonry cavity wall construction.

It uses engineered tongue and groove joints and is designed to work with pre-formed corner solutions to help maintain insulation continuity, reduce thermal bridging, and support a consistent residual cavity for protection against wind-driven rain.

XT/CW (T&G) is intended for use in traditional masonry cavity walls, delivering high thermal performance while maintaining a residual cavity in line with certification requirements.

The system forms part of a complete cavity wall insulation solution and can be used alongside optional cavity closers and pre-formed corner panels.

  • Material: PIR (Polyisocyanurate) insulation
  • Size: 1200 x 450mm
System Benefits:

The XT/CW (T&G) system is designed to form a continuous insulation layer using engineered tongue and groove joints, helping to maintain insulation continuity and reduce thermal bridging at board junctions.

Pre-formed corner panels and cavity closers assist in reducing cold bridging at junctions, helping improve overall wall thermal performance.

The system maintains a residual cavity between the insulation and outer leaf, which is essential for resistance to wind-driven rain penetration in cavity wall construction.

Recommended residual cavity width is typically 50mm in accordance with certification guidance, although reduced cavities may be permitted depending on design specification.

Composite low emissivity foil facings help improve thermal performance by reducing radiant heat transfer.

Installation, Handling & Storage:
  • Store boards flat on a clean, dry, level surface
  • Store undercover – polythene wrapping alone is not sufficient protection outdoors
  • Protect boards from moisture, impact damage and site contamination
  • Cut using a sharp knife or fine-toothed saw
  • Ensure tight-fitting joints to maintain thermal continuity
  • Wear appropriate PPE during handling and installation
  • Refer to manufacturer Health & Safety documentation
  • Supplied in labelled packs indicating grade, size and quantity
  • Avoid contact with acids, petrol, alkalis and mineral oils
Durability:

Unilin PIR insulation boards are stable, rot-resistant and designed to provide long-term thermal performance for the life of the building when correctly specified and installed.
