Unilin CavityTherm is a built-in PIR insulation board for traditional full-fill cavity wall applications.

The 125mm thickness is designed to achieve very low U-values and excellent thermal bridging performance in standard cavity wall constructions.

Unilin CavityTherm is a high-performance continuous insulation system, designed for full-fill cavity wall applications.

The composite PIR board has a thermal conductivity of 0.021 W/mK and provides built-in protection against wind-driven rain.

Key Features:

  • Engineered HIPS outer facer for rain protection
  • Moisture redirected to the outer surface
  • Pre-positioned slots for sloping wall ties
  • Fully engineered jointing system for continuity
  • Bespoke accessories to insulate around services
  • Excellent thermal bridging values
  • Achieves excellent U-values and meets building standards
  • Typical R-value of 5.70 for the 125mm version
  • Range: CavityTherm
  • Material: PIR / Polyisocyanurate insulation
  • Fire Classification: Euroclass F

Each pack covers 2.16m² and contains four boards (1200mm x 450mm).

CavityTherm’s unique profiled facing directs moisture away from the insulation and back onto the external leaf, providing extra protection.

The rebated edges allow for tight interlocking, ensuring a continuous, effective insulation layer.

Thermal Conductivity: 0.021 W/mK (BS EN 13165)

R-value: 5.70 (125mm version)

Typical achievable U-value: 0.16 W/m²K (125mm, Inner Block 100mm)

Frequently asked questions:

What is CavityTherm?

A PIR core insulation board with a thermal conductivity of 0.021 W/mK.

It features gas-tight facings, a profiled HIPS skin for drainage, and rebated edges for tight interlocking.

What are the benefits?

CavityTherm 125mm provides excellent continuity of insulation, achieving very low U-values suitable for modern energy-efficient building designs.

What wall ties should be used?

Standard stainless steel wire wall ties are suitable for CavityTherm.

Low-conductivity wall ties may help further reduce thermal bridging.

What types of buildings can use CavityTherm?

Suitable for external masonry cavity walls in both domestic and non-domestic buildings, up to 25m high.

What are the accessories for?

Accessories are designed to improve airtightness and thermal bridging.

They include bespoke pieces for insulation around services and ensure continuity in the insulation layer.

What is the ‘Engineered Edge Detail’?

Ensures continuity and compliance with building regulations, reducing the risk of U-value penalties during calculations.

What tape should be used to seal board joins?

Waterproof tape or a self-adhesive jointing strip.

Ensure the surfaces are dry before application.
